Welcome to my blog! My name is Maurice and I’m an Irish man living in London for the past 14 years. This is my record of the food I like and have cooked  and (when I get around to writing the posts!) some of the science behind the food.

A long time ago I used to be a biochemist. I really liked finding out and understanding how things worked, mixing chemicals together to get a result. I’ve left the lab behind now and work in IT. But for me, cooking is a lot like being back in a lab, mixing together different ingredients to create something interesting – but cooking is better because I get to eat the results!

As well as recording and sharing the recipes I’ve cooked I also want to show some of the chemistry behind the food and why things work the way they do. So, every now and then, I’ll post about the chemistry behind the food. If you’ve got a question ask me and see if I can answer it!
